Marlen's Josey Wales of Rearden - "Josey"

 Josey is one of the kindest beings you’ll ever meet. Her primary objective is to please but also to indulge a sneaky and determined prey drive that is only seen when her name is called to cast. Since she was 8 weeks old, Josey’s greatest desire is to pick up an object and bring it to you.

Josey was the first female we introduced through our Partner Program. She belongs to Marlen Gundogs and our friend Eli Rearden of East Alabama. Josey lives a fulfilled life with the Reardens as a companion and gundog, but we were able to get to know Josey when we completed her started training from the age of 8 months to 10 months. Josey, like a lot of British labs, possesses a cool demeanor and a somewhat sensitive personality. She loves and submits to anyone with good character. Her submissive nature, coupled with her natural drive and desire to retrieve, makes Josey a very trainable dog that requires very little effort in training. Josey does require adequate praise and acknowledgment from her handler to reinforce her desire to please. Her eyes will ask for it if you pay attention.

Josey left training with us and immediately went to duck camp where she continued to thrive in her desire to find and retrieve game. She quickly became an experienced dog on the duck pond having picked up nearly 30+ birds in her first two hunts. We are thrilled to have Josey as another outstanding female in our breeding program.
